happy new year everyone!

I will start this post with some picspam from yesterday, as promised I made som pics of the lead-pouring and our dinner.

do you know raclette? I love it, it’s our special new year’s eve dinner tradition. our raclette grill has a hot stone (? it’s a stone plate you grill meat on) at the top and some little pans underneath, were you can put potatoes and vegetables and melt some cheese. it’s so delicious, and I always overeat! I will upload some more pictures and maybe some recipes on my cooking lounge in a few days.

after midnight we did the lead-pouring (I hope it’s the right term), here’s how this works:

put the tin (?) figurine on the spoon

melt it

pour it into cold water

and then predict your future:

 

I got a broken anchor, not sure what that means, an anchor stands for travelling and help. 

those are the broken parts, a torch (long life, that’s good!), a shepherd’s staff (hm), and I think the right one is a fish? (good luck in gambling).

that’s what my husband got: I think it’s a ship (a journey into the unknown).

so, he’s got the ship, and I got the broken anchor. what do you think that means?!

that’s my daughter, trying to make a noise with the noisemaker, but she kept putting the wrong end into her mouth *o*

so, how was your christmas? was it nice, quite and merry? or did you party? we were at my parents’  on christmas eve, here in austria we usually celebrate christmas on christmas eve, with dinner and unwrapping gifts. we got some fishy appetizers, roasted goose with red cabbage and caramelized potatoes and rice pudding. we get this meal every year, and I love it!

gestern war wieder shopping angesagt. ich musste nach biedermannsdorf zu nailart und mehr, um die preise für den contest abzuholen. freundlicherweise haben die ladies einiges gesponsort, mehr dazu ganz am ende. natürlich bin ich dort nicht mir leeren händen rausgegangen, es ist einiges ins körbchen gewandert...
doch vorher musste ich zu müller, wollte nur shampoo holen, naja, was soll ich sagen ;-) bin über die neuen alessandros gestolpert, swatches folgen demnächst.
yesterday was shoppingday. I had to pic up the prizes for the upcoming contest, the ladies from nailart und mehr were kind enough to sponsor a whole lot! of course I "had" to get some new stuff there!
but before I went to müller's, I had to buy shampoo, and *caugh* fell over the new alessandros, swatches coming up soon.

und hier meine nailart beute: rote glitzersteinchen, grünes gel, eine 3d nailart form, sticker.

and this is my nailart haul: red rhinestones, green gel, 3d nailart mold, stickers.

in diese form füllt man acryl, gel oder fimo, lässt es aushärten und hat dann 3d applikationen für nageldesign. das werde ich bald testen!

auf den letzten drücker nehme ich noch am winter nailart contest von nail-art world teil. die erste mani habe ich schon vor längerer zeit gemacht, wollte aber noch eine 2. machen, und die hat mich echt geschafft. irl sieht sie so toll aus, aber auf dem foto kommt es einfach nicht rüber! ich habe es bei jedem licht probiert, dass ich nur finden konnte! heute gabs ein bisschen sonne, diese fotos wurden am besten, werden aber dem look nicht gerecht. wie auch immer...
last minute I'm entering the winter nailart contest of nail-art world. the first design I made some time ago, but I wanted to make a 2. one. and this one drove me nuts! it looks absolutely gorgeous irl, but I simply couldn't capture it. I tried every lighting and ended up with some sunshine today. it's not a perfect result, but the best. never mind...

dies sieht wie pures eis aus (irl)- blauer schimmer, glimmer und hologlitzer! ich verstehe nicht, warum der daumen immer gelb aussieht, denn das ist er nicht! oh, ich wünschte, ihr könntet dies irl sehen! es ist so schön!

rhinestones & gel-applikationen

bei nailjuice findet ein nailart contest zum thema nautical (maritim) statt. ein tolles thema, zu dem ich einige ideen hatte. letztendlich habe ich mich für die water marbling technik entschieden. es war mein erster (und wahrscheinlich letzter o_O) versuch, und nach zig fehlversuchen bin ich mit dem ergebnis recht zufrieden.
nailjuice is having a nautical nailart contest. I think this theme is great and I had a lot of ideas. in the end I chose the water marbling technique, it was my first (and probably last o_O) attempt, and after a lot of failed attempts I think it turned out pretty gorgeous.


als farben habe ich blau (china glaze calypso blue) und weiss gewählt, die typischen marinefarben. das muster soll an wellen erinnern. das rote herz steht für die geliebte, die ein jeder matrose in einem hafen zurücklässt. und die steinchen sollen das glitzern der sonne auf der wasseroberfläche darstellen.
I chose blue (china glaze calypso blue) and white, the typical navy colors. the design is showing waves, the red heart symbolizes the love each sailor leaves behind. and the rhinestones are supposed to be the glittering sun on the water surface.
