yesterday it was the first sunday in advent-time. in austria (and other european countries) the 4 sundays before christmas are called advent sundays and are celebrated by lighting candles on an advent wreath, decorated with evergreens and bows. it’s like the countdown to christmas. I don’t know, if the four weeks before christmas are celebrated like this in other countries.
well, this year I didn’t tie a wreath, mostly because my daughter would break it within 10 minutes and burn her little fingers on the candles. but I did a special manicure.
I found a napkin just perfect for holiday nailart, it has these very small images which fit perfectly on the nail. and it’s much easier to apply just a small piece of napkin instead of covering the whole nail.
 
I applied 2 coats of alessandro 295, which is a cool-toned gold, and 1 coat of 297, which is a cool gold glitter. for this manicure I chose the holly designs and applied them by using the napkin decoupage technique. on the middle finger I stuck on the 3d artpieces I created with the mold I got at nailart und mehr.
 
 
 

I love the look of the 3d artpieces, but I have to admit that it’s not for everyday use. but if you are going to a christmasparty it’s the perfect nailart ;-)

the reason why I’m not posting so many posts lately is that my dad is in hospital. he had a surgery and got a hip prothesis. the problem is, that he is suffering from dementia and someone has to go there every day to look after him, as the nurses aren’t very dedicated. so I’m there quite often. but he’s coming home soon.

erste neuigkeit: ich habe nach langem überlegen entschieden, die deutschen einträge wegzulassen. es tut mir zwar leid, weil ich immer einen deutschsprachigen blog schreiben wollte, aber es ist einfach zu zeitaufwändig, alles doppelt zu schreiben. und da doch der großteil der leser nicht deutsch spricht, habe ich diesen weg nun gewählt. ich hoffe, ihr seid mir nicht böse und könnt es nachvollziehen. kommentare werde ich natürlich weiterhin deutsch beantworten, und vl wird auch hin und wieder ein deutscher beitrag folgen, man wird sehen ;-)

second news: I've received my first pre-(re)-release polishes! how cool is that?! china glaze sent me the fabulous and long-awaited wizard of ohh ahz returns collection. thank you so much! I'm so happy I'm able to show you swatches of polishes that aren't available yet. maybe I can help you decide, which of those you really need, and which you need just a bit ;-)

es gibt eine neue le von alessandro, und diesmal sind wieder richtig tolle lacke dabei! sie schreien förmlich "weihnachten!" (zu den bildern muss ich dazu sagen, dass die sonne nun endgültig ihren winterschlaf angetreten hat. heute hat es sogar schon geschneit! daher müsst ihr mit kunstlichtfotos vorlieb nehmen, allerdings farbecht!)
alessandro has launched a new le, and again there are some gorgeous colors amongst them! they are all screaming "christmas!" (about the pictures I have to say, that the sun finally has gone into hibernation. today it was even snowing! so I had to deal with different artificial lightings, true colors though!)

kühles metallicgold, fast schon taupe. seht gut deckend. von dem bin ich total begeistert, da mir gold sonst nie steht, dieser kühle ton allerdings schon! 2 coats.
cool metallic gold, almost taupe. very opaque. I love this, usually gold doesn't match my skintone, but this cool shade does! 2 coats.

hier trage ich eine schicht goldglitter über 2 schichten metallic gold. fabelhaft!!
here I layered 1 coat of the gold glitter over 2 coats of the metallic gold. fabulous!!

heute habe ich doch kurzerhand eine schicht gold sparkle über die gestrige maniküre gelegt. das ist also gold sparkle auf amethyst sparkle auf s-he 464. das gold hat den violetten glimmer in einen multicolor glimmer verwandelt! das ist einfach nur geil!

CND hat eine neue lack-serie herausgebracht, die alles an farbe und effekt abdecken soll, was man sich nur vorstellen kann. colour effects besteht aus 50 creme-farben und 15 verschiedenen effekt-lacken (pearl, shimmer und sparkle). insgesamt sollen durch layern über 800 verschiedene ergebnisse erzielt werden, sofern man alle 65 lacke besitzt. die idee ist gut. wenn man allerdings, so wie ich, schon mehrere 100 lacke besitzt, kann man getrost auf den einen oder anderen der neuen serie verzichten. denn zumindest die creme-lacke sind nicht so aufregend, wie ich finde. ich meine, wer braucht 3 verschiedene weiß-töne??!!
ich habe allerdings von den sparkle effektlacken viel gutes gelesen und mir 3 bestellt, 2 davon habe ich auf orly enchanted forest getestet:
CND has created a new polish-collection, that's meant to cover all kinds of colors and effects you can imagine. with the 50 cremes and 15 effectshades (pearl, shimmer and sparkle) there can be created up to 800 different looks by layering. It's a good thought. but if you have several 100 polishes, as I do, you really don't need all of the 65 shades. I mean, who needs 3 different shades of white?! but I've read a lot of good reviews about the sparkle effectpolishes, so I ordered 3 and tested 2 on orly enchanted forest:

jade sparkle ist ein sehr dichter olive- bis hellgrün changierender microglitter. dies ist 1 coat und es glitzert wie verrückt. dieser lack hellt den untergrund merklich auf und verändert ihn ins gelbliche.
is a very dense light- to olivegreen iridescent microglitter. this is 1 coat and it's ridiculously sparkly. this polish brightens up the underground and turns it yellowish.

gold sparkle ist nicht so dicht, und die partikel sind unterschiedlich groß. eher glass fleck. dieser effektlack hellt den untergrund ebenfalls auf und lässt ihn kühler wirken.
is not that dense and the partikles are different in size, it's more a glass fleck sparkle. this effectpolish also brightens up the green but makes it look cooler.


die konsistenz und applikation war bei beiden angenehm, der pinsel sehr gut für die glitterlacke geeignet. die effectlacke lassen viel spielerei zu, va wenn man verschiedene effekte übereinanderlegt, wie zb sparkle auf shimmer auf creme. wenn ich nicht schon so viele hätte, würde ich mir alle lacke bestellen und einen eigenen blog dem thema widmen. ^^
the formula and application of both polishes was smooth, the brush very convenient. there is a lot of space to play with these polishes, esp if you layer different effects such as sparkle on shimmer on creme. if I was a starter, I would buy them all and make a blog just swatching all the different options! ^^
